Fred Deschner

LOW MOUNTAIN — Graveside services for Fred Deschner, 86, will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 17, at Jeddito Cemetery. Samuel Walker will officiate. Burial will be in Jeddito Cemetery.

Deschner died May 12, 2011, in Chinle. He was born Dec. 7, 1924, in Low Mountain, into the Red Running Into the Water People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Deschner was a lifetime resident of Low Mountain. He was a rancher and enjoyed taking care of his livestock. He was passionate about breaking and training horses.

Survivors include his wife, Rena Deschner; son, Freeman Deschner; daughters, Elsie Harvill, LaVerne Deschner-Dillon, Alberta Deschner; sister, Virginia Henry; nine grandchildren.
Deschner was preceded in death by his parents, Salow Begay II; Bitoni Bitsi.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Deschner, Roland Deschner, Riley Deschner, Matthew P. Dillon, Sean P. Dillon, Cedric R. Ingram, Sterling Henry.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Deschner residence, Low Mountain, following services.

Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Leona John

WINDOW ROCK — Services for Leona Mae John, 32, will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 17, at Mary Mother of Mankind Catholic Church, St. Michaels. P. Jey will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michaels Community Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m., one hour prior to service.

John died May 12, 2011, in Albuquerque. She was born Dec. 15, 1978, in Fort Defiance, into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Reed People Clan.

Survivors include her mother, Hadesbah “Hattie” John; brother, Aaron John; sister, Karen John.
John was preceded in death by her father, Luke Leon John; brother, Leroy John; grandparents, John Bitsuie, Nasbah Bitsuie.

Pallbearers will be Albertson James, Darwin Walker, Shawn Walker, Robert Day, Cody Begay, Clint Cowboy, Henry Francisco Jr., Albert James Jr.

The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Parish Hall, following services.

Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Karen Mark

FORT DEFIANCE — Services are pending for Karen Cheryl Mark, 37.

Mark died May 12, 2011, iin Fort Defiance. She was born Nov. 4, 1973, in Fort Defiance.

A family gathering will be 6 p.m., today, May 16, at Crystal Chapter House. Family and friends are encouraged to attend.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
